Our sterling silver Satin Rose Gold Sand Dollar Pendant is a lovely interpretation of a favorite find among beachcombers. In fact, at one time these delicate round treasures were thought to be mermaid’s coins, washed ashore after a storm. This satin finished, rose gold vermeil sand dollar pendant is accented by five cubic zirconias.
Many consider these cute beach treasures a symbol of good luck!
Rose gold is very trendy and fun with its pinkish hues. In fact, it is a blend of pure 24 karat yellow gold, copper, and silver. The depth of color in rose gold comes from the ratio of yellow gold to copper. Rose gold was first used in Russia in the 1800s in Faberge eggs, and later, in the 1920's, it became popular in the U.S.
What is vermeil? Gold vermeil (pronounced ver-may) is a thick layer of gold which is electroplated over a sterling silver base. This binds the gold and silver together, making vermeil much less likely to fade, tarnish, or wear down. In comparison, gold plating is a thinner layer of gold over a lower-end metal like brass or copper.
What is a satin finish? A satin finish is in between a brushed and a glossy finish. A brushed finish is more rustic looking and you will see and feel a textured finish. A glossy finish is very shiny and smooth. You will be able to see your reflection when looking directly at this finish. A satin finish, like glossy, is also smooth to the touch but it doesn't have the high shine, rather has a matte finish. This finish beautifully accents our Satin Rose Gold Sand Dollar Necklace.
