Pearl

Pearls are the traditional birth'stone' for June. Technically not a stone at all, the pearl is the only gem that is from the sea.

    Pearls of Promise Necklace

Classic strand of cultured freshwater pearls, hand-knotted and finished with a sterling silver clasp. A congratulatory graduation card with pearl care instructions is included. Originally designed for a special community project, our Pearls of Promise Necklace is more than just a beautiful piece of jewelry. It's a celebration of achievement. The Pearls of Promise initiative was developed in 2011 by Silver Linings' owner, Aida Leisure, when she noticed an emerging trend in gift giving, particularly for occasions like high school graduation. Traditional gifts of fine jewelry and lasting keepsakes were being replaced by tech gadgets and less personal objects that quickly become obsolete. Between 2011–2023, Silver Linings has gifted more than 2,500 Pearls of Promise Necklaces to every young woman high school graduate in Talbot County and Kent County, Maryland, where our stores are located. Pearls are a symbolic gift for the graduates, most of whom were born and raised on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, an area famous for the Eastern oyster. To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Pearls of Promise in 2020, we expanded the program to the national level and made the Pearls of Promise Necklace available to purchase online, so that all high school and college graduates can be honored.
